How it works
Paste a URL. Pay. Get the report. Nothing in between needs you.
1The free check
Paste your store URL. In a few seconds you get five answers: whether your catalogue can be read, whether a sampled product page carries Product structured data, how many products have a GTIN, whether AI crawlers are blocked, and whether your policy pages can be found.
No email is needed for the score. If you want the five fixes, leave an address and they are sent to it.
If your store is readable, a Buy button appears with your URL already attached. If it is not, the page says why and stops. Nobody pays for an audit that cannot run.
2Payment
£99, through Stripe. VAT is added at checkout where it applies. Your receipt comes from Stripe. A confirmation email comes from us with your order number and the store address on it. If the address is wrong, reply that day and say so.
That is the last thing needed from you. No login, no access, no call.
3The read
The system reads your store the way an AI shopping assistant does.
- The whole catalogue, from the public product listing every Shopify store publishes
- 15 sampled product pages, for the structured data an assistant reads first
- robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt, to see which crawlers are let in and what they are pointed at
- Shipping, returns, contact, about and privacy pages, and whether a crawler is allowed to read them
- Mobile speed, from Google PageSpeed Insights
It reads slowly, two seconds between pages, and identifies itself as BluntFindingsBot with a link to what it does. It honours your robots.txt. It reads the public store and nothing else.
4The score
Scoring is mechanical and repeatable. The same store on the same day gets the same number. Six sections, 100 points. A section that cannot be measured is excluded rather than scored zero, and the report says which.
Then eight buyer-style searches are run to see whether the store appears and who appears instead. That is recorded as a dated spot check and weighted lightly.
5The write-up, and the check on it
The findings are written up in plain English: what is wrong, where, what to change, with before-and-after examples from your own products.
Before anything ships, the write-up is checked against the data. Every figure must match the scores. Every product handle mentioned must exist in your catalogue. Every section must be present or explicitly marked not measured. The rendered pages are checked for broken tables and blank pages. A report that fails any of that is sent back to be rewritten, not sent to you.
6Delivery
Within 24 hours of payment, usually sooner, an email arrives with the PDF attached and a link to a private web page carrying the same report.
The page link lasts 30 days and is never indexed. Keep the PDF.
7After
Three days later, one email asks whether the report was any use. That is the whole sequence. No drip campaign, no calls, no "just checking in".
Thirty days after delivery, the report page and every file behind it are deleted.
What never happens
- Nothing on your store is changed. The audit reads. It never writes.
- Nothing about your store is used for anything except your report. Not for benchmarks, not for marketing, not for anyone else's audit.
- Nobody rings you.
If it cannot run
The free check catches almost every store the audit cannot read. If a store becomes unreadable between the check and the run, for instance because bot protection is switched on that afternoon, the order is refunded in full and the email explains what to change before ordering again.
