This is what we collect, why, and how long we keep it. It is short because we collect very little.

Who we are

What we collect and why

When you run the free check.

The store URL you submit, and the pages read from that store. Your IP address is used to limit how many checks one address can run. If you ask for the fixes by email, your email address. Basis: our legitimate interest in running the check you asked for.

When you buy an audit.

Your email address, the store URL, the order number, the amount paid and the order's progress. Payment details go to Stripe; we never see your card number. Basis: performing the contract you made when you ordered.

The data read from your store.

Public product data, page markup, robots.txt, sitemaps, policy pages and speed measurements, read from the store you submitted. This is used only to produce your report. It is never used for benchmarks, marketing, training, or anyone else's report. Basis: performing the contract.

When you email us.

Your email address and what you wrote, so we can answer. Basis: legitimate interest in answering you.

When you visit the site.

Analytics, to see which pages are used. See cookies below.

We do not sell data. We do not send marketing email unless you have signed up for it on this site, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

Who processes it for us

Each processes data only on our instructions. Some are outside the UK; where they are, transfers are covered by the UK's adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets cookies to do so. If you do not want that, block cookies for this site in your browser, or use a content blocker; the site works without them.

The bot check on the free check form may set a cookie of its own to tell a person from a script. That is all it does.

The private report page sets no cookies and is not indexed by search engines.

Our crawler

To produce a report or a free check, our system reads the public pages of the store you submitted. It identifies itself as BluntFindingsBot, reads slowly, honours robots.txt and reads only stores submitted to us. It does not log in, submit forms or read anything private. Details at /bot.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, and ask for a copy in a portable form. Email hello@bluntfindings.com and we will answer within a month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when.
